As a child growing up in Jamaica my father's reggae and my mother's R&B and Soul LPs lit up my eardrum . Then I travel to America, and I'll never forget the first song I heard after getting off the airplaning, MC Hammer's "2 legit." How was all the amazing-ness coming out of these fisher speakers.
The first instrument I played was the bass guitar. It was in third grade. Then fast forward to sixteen my mom bought me a Casio keyboard for my birthday, and I've never put it down since then.
Im now a beatmaking (composer) producer, and DJ
Thought out my journey with music I've learning that it is one of the only things that brings us together as a common species.
So I want to create music that embodies the journeys I've gone though and maybe it can connects with you.
I love listening to 70’s 80’s to early 90s music, like Michael Jackson’s “Rock with you”, Hall and Oath “I can’t go for that,” Proclaimers “500 miles” and many more. The drum patterns allowed to me understand the backbeat a lot more, how it drives the beat and how to use it. Coming from a dancehall/reggae music background it is slightly difference but what I’ve learned has help me better bring the gap between what I’m learning to the genre I want to integrate it into.
